- Abstract
This document is a response to a comment regarding a study on perianal abscesses in children. The authors address the importance of evaluating predisposing conditions such as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and immunodeficiency in pediatric patients with recurrent perianal abscesses. They found that perianal abscess recurrence rate was 17.8% in their study, with most patients being under one year old. They also discuss the presence of perianal disease in pediatric patients with Crohn's disease and the risk factors for recurrent abscesses. The authors conclude that children with recurrent perianal abscesses should be carefully examined to identify possible risk factors.
