- Title
'Cattle of this colour': Boying the Diva in As You Like It.
- Authors
Brown, Pamela Allen
- Abstract
The article discusses how William Shakespeare responded to the innovation of actresses performing in scripted and improvised plays in every genre with "As You Like It." The author explains that the character of Rosalind in "As You Like It" was the greatest creation in this kind with the switching of identities propelling its plot with the boy cast to portray Rosalind/Ganymede tasked to memorize and deliver over 700 lines between the roles of the duke's daughter and that of a saucy lackey.
