The article discusses complaint poems by the Medieval English poet Geoffrey Chaucer, with particular focus given to "Complaint Unto Pity" and "A Complaint to His Lady." The complaint genre is described, and the influence of the Roman poet Ovid on the form is commented on. Chaucer's use of subjectivity is also touched on.
