- Abstract
The article critiques the use of medieval Icelandic texts, which were composed after Iceland's Christianization, as sources of accurate information about Iceland's pagan history. It is argued that such sources should be seen as reflections of the period in which they were composed rather than as collections of historical fact. The author explores how intertextuality varies within different Icelandic literary genres. Genres examined include eddas and sagas.
