- Abstract
Psoriasis, an immune-mediated skin disorder, affects 125 million people globally, with 11.6% of psoriasis patients also having type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aimed to assess the impact of psoriasis on T2DM complications by analyzing the United States 2017 National Inpatient Sample database. The results showed that T2DM patients with psoriasis had an increased risk of developing diabetic neuropathy, hyperglycemia, retinopathy, hypertension, depression, and hypercoagulopathy. However, they had a decreased risk of developing ketoacidosis, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic angiopathy with gangrene, hypoglycemia, and congestive heart failure. Further research is needed to understand the relationship between psoriasis and these complications.
