- Abstract
When Alexander Von Humbolt said that, the English were envious and jealous of the immense possessions and treasures that the Spaniards held in America, he did so looking at many centuries of British planning of an attack on Hispanic America. This became reality in 1806, and the habitants of the Silver River reacted with loyalty and fidelity to the Spanish Crown. At the sight of these expressions of unity and sacrifice in order to be unchained of the English domination, no-one can suppose that they wanted to be subjected to the reign of George III. Even more, Oscar Abadie-Aicardi, invites us to question ourselves: Did the same people who fought for the Spanish Crown against the British invaders want to be independent only three years after this heroic episodes?
