- Abstract
The article focuses on the results of population-based telephone surveys conducted by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) to measure the annual prevalence of health conditions and risk behaviors, including smoking, in the city from 2002 to 2006. A five-point tobacco-control program was implemented in the city in 2002. The estimated adult smoking prevalence decreased from 21.5% to 18.4% during the period of 2002 to 2004.
