- Abstract
Decision-making is present in everyday life and plays a crucial role in science, business and management. To this end, organizations rely on business analytics, which is an advantage in providing assistance in obtaining timely information about the competition, assisting in the optimization of business processes and generating opportunities for growth and innovation. This tool does not work in isolation but has a significant impact on business results. In recent years, thousands of companies around the world have implemented enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Successful companies create value with every transaction, for their customers and for themselves and their shareholders in the form of profit. Companies with more value with each sale are better positioned to profit than those that produce less value. To assess how much value a company is creating, it is therefore critical to understand its value chain. Based on this context, the aim of this article is to understand the cruciality of business analytics for decision-making, noting the importance of the value chain for analysis.
