- Abstract
Antibiotics are a kind of typical drugs, which can not be effectively removed by traditional methods, and have high environmental risk. Microalgae has been shown to have the potential to remove antibiotics. Therefore, the research on antibiotics and microalgae has become a hot spot. Firstly, the types and physicochemical properties of common antibiotics in the environment were reviewed. Then the effects and mechanism of antibiotics on prokaryotes (cyanobacteria) and eukaryotes (green algae) in the growth process were analyzed, and the compound toxicity of antibiotics to microalgae was described. Finally, the main mechanisms of antibiotic removal by microalgae (biosorption, bioaccumulation, biodegradation, photodegradation, hydrolysis and volatilization) were summarized, and the future research directions of antibiotics and microalgae are prospected.
