- Abstract
The article presents information on formation of structure in nitrocarburized layers of low-alloy steels subjected to laser heating. Laser heating is a promising form of surface treatment. Laser hardening of preliminarily nitrocarburized steels, which substantially improves the set of physical, mechanical, and operational properties of heavy-duty parts, occupies a special place among the various directions of the development of this process. Microscopic x-ray spectral analysis has shown that the segregations in the nitrocarburized layers have a complex chemical composition after laser heat treatment.
