FTC or NAAG: Who Will Win the Territorial Battle?
- Authors

- Abstract
An overview is presented of the recent conflict between state and federal authorities regarding the regulation of national advertising. Multistate regulatory efforts have raised questions about the legality of state restrictions on national ads. Although the answers may vary as different federal agencies become involved, it is concluded that state actions represent no legal conflict with those of the Federal Trade Commission. Because states are expected to continue playing an important role in national advertising, policy researchers must adjust to this change in regulatory environment.
