- Abstract
This paper discussed the beginning of the Oman Coast Scout from 1951 to 1971 in terms of establishment circumstances, structures, special scout components and procedures performed in this regard, including human amalgamation between Arab soldiers and other nationalities’ soldiers forming the power. This occurred under the umbrella of British supervision, which enpowered it with military training and supplied arms, equipment, salaries in addition to establishment of its own military headquarters. This power came to have a rank structure with leadership, medals, badges, slogans, uniform, military armament and accouterment, qualification, training, military camps and assembly. This, in turn, has contributed to formation and establishment of United Arab Emirates Armed Forces. In addition, the study drew on the British dominance over the emirates of the trucial coast and the agreements made with the governers of the emirates rulers to ensure control over them. Furthermore, the study covered the strategy of the armament and logistic support provided starting from its formation to its cessation with the establishment of the United Arab Emirates based on multiple historical documents obtained from the national archive of United Arab Emirates in concurrence with British existence in the region. The study found out that the Scout of Oman Coast had an important security and logistic role. Besides, it was terminated in concurrence with the British withdrawal from the region and the formation of United Arab Emirates Federation.
