- Title
Increasing Efficiency With VAV System Static Pressure Setpoint Reset.
- Authors
Taylor, Steven T.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the energy benefits of static pressure setpoint resets in supply air fans on variable air volume (VAV) systems. The article states that American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Engineers Standard 90.1 requires that systems with direct digital control of individual zone boxes that report to a central control panel will reset based on the zone with the most pressure. It talks about the difficulty in achieving stable airflow through air ducts unless the reset logic controller can be properly tuned. It talks about rogue zones which cause reset schemes to underperform due to design flaws, undersized VAV boxes, or cooling thermostat setpoints being below design conditions.
