- Abstract
This article presents the analysis of the sounds contained in the Mexican film Estrellas solitarias (Fernando Urdapilleta, 2015) as aestheticnarrative resources of cinematographic language used to signify transphobia; sound elements that become symbols of discrimination, violence and death for the transvestite, transgender and transsexual community. The phenomenon is observed from the concepts of cinematographic sound language proposed by Samuel Larson (2010) and the notions on gender, discrimination, homophobia and transphobia by Judith Butler (2002, 2006, 2007), Teresa de Lauretis (1989), Óscar Guasch (2006) and Ricardo Llamas (1998). This is a review of sound to analyze the filmic representation of a sociocultural fact such as transphobia.
