- Abstract
This article examines the challenges and potential for treating individuals with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). It acknowledges historical beliefs that NPD was difficult to treat, but presents more recent clinical observations that suggest treatment is possible. The article discusses the specific challenges therapists face when working with NPD patients, such as high dropout rates and slow progress, and emphasizes the importance of understanding the co-creation of treatment difficulties. It also explores different approaches to treatment development for NPD, aiming to provide clinicians with insights into effective interventions and promote a more hopeful approach to treatment.
