- Abstract
The article discusses the study that confirms whether the treatment of postprandial hyperglycemia in patients with early, asymptomatic diabetes delays the progression of such disease to frank fasting hyperglycemia. The study involves 219 adults with obesity, a history of gestational diabetes, and family history of diabetes. However, the results would only be significant if the treatment decreased the development of diabetes by half because the study was small as compared with typical rates of development. Moreover, the results also conflict with the shorter-duration STOP-NIDDM study.
