- Abstract
The spectral dependence of the electron–phonon relaxation rate γ[sub e-ph](hω) in metals is studied in pump–supercontinuum-probe (PSCP) experiments with femtosecond time resolution. Investigation of this spectral dependence, which exhibits a substantial slowing of the relaxation rate γ[sub e-ph](hω) near the Fermi level E[sub F], using the parametrization γ[sub e-ph](hω)∝λ<Ω[sup 2]>(hω-E[sub F])[sup 2] makes it possible to determine directly the electron–phonon interaction parameter λ<Ω[sup 2]>. The parameter λ<Ω[sup 2]> for YBa[sub 2]Cu[sub 3]O[sub 7-δ] is analyzed using this method. © 1999 American Institute of Physics.
