- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the historical evolution of free newspapers. Particular focus is given to the great amount of advertising material within newspapers, as well as the competition brought by new technologies of information dissemination. Among the challenges of the free newspapers are: to achieve an attractive editorial material; a good system of distribution; and the reputation of quality. The main goal is to achieve the reader's trust, by establishing a self-financing system in order to assure its permanence and continuity.
