- Abstract
This essay discusses the contributions of Philippe de Loutherbourg in the transformation of the architectural designs of theaters and performances in the eighteenth century in Great Britain. He initiates the use of technology-driven entertainment and modern stage scenography in Drury Lane Theatre that brings harmony and aesthetic unification to the production. De Loutherbourg proposes the idea of electric lightning to illuminate the stage and enhance the audience in their seats. Furthermore, his works influence the development of landscape spectacularization, topography and industrial development.
