- Abstract
The article focuses on the Elementary School Social Work Program in Independent School District (ISD) 196 in Rosemount-Apple Valley, Minnesota. It illustrates the successful transition of funding of a social work program through a series of public relations strategies to educate the administration, board and community about the value of social work services. The program placed a half-time school social worker in each of the district's 18 elementary schools. The social workers met individually and in small groups with students, worked with parents, collaborated with teachers, met with county collaborative- and integrated-services teams and referred students to agencies that could provide resources and family support services.
