- Abstract
To evaluate the accuracy of fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as a complementary imaging modality for prenatal obstructions beyond the duodenum exploration and to determine how fetal MRI potentially impacts perinatal counseling or predicts postnatal outcomes. There were 9 jejunal atresia, 4 apple peel syndrome, 2 ileal atresia, 2 midgut atresia, 3 jejunal volvulus, 3 ileal volvulus, 1 volvulus without description of the precise location, 1 multifocal jejunal and ileal atresia and 1 newborn without any diagnosed anomaly. Fetal MRI provided additional diagnostic information compared to US in fetuses with a suspected bowel obstruction beyond the duodenum, and therefore permitted more detailed prenatal counselling.
