- Abstract
This article explores the relationship between receptivity to misinformation and the preference for complementary alternative medicine (CAM) in individuals with atopic dermatitis (AD). The study found that over 50% of AD patients use at least one CAM, with the majority obtaining information from non-certified sources rather than their physicians. The research also revealed that individuals with a higher receptivity to misinformation were more likely to prefer CAM treatments over standard medical therapies. However, the study acknowledges limitations such as selection bias and the influence of other factors like cost and cultural values on treatment preference. The authors suggest that clinicians should address potential misunderstandings and communicate CAM information more effectively to patients.
