- Title
GUARDIANS AD LITEM IN DIVORCE AND CUSTODY: PROTECTION OF THE CHILD'S INTERESTS.
- Abstract
The article reports on the initiative by the Milwaukee Family Court in Wisconsin, which advocates the practice of appointing a guardian ad litem to represent all children involved in custody disputes of divorced parents. The court aims to implement concern for the welfare of the child. Separate hearings on custody about 90 days will be conducted after the trial, allowing an investigation by the Family court staff of social workers, and an assessment of alternatives. Judge Robert W. Hansen asserted that the guardian ad litem will have the same rights and opportunities as counsel for the parties during the hearing on child custody.
