- Abstract
The article presents a study which aims to examine the impact of reef material and time on artificial reefs' fish colonization. Artificial reefs were spread by scuba divers between October 11 and 20, 2005 in Itaipu Reservoir located in Brazil and Paraguay. Results indicate the usefulness of experimental reefs in understanding fish assemblages' ecological succession, most specially in tropical communities that have low seasonality and high species richness.
