- Abstract
The article discusses the history and architecture of Chaukhandi tomb of Khwaja Khalil Alias Nawab Amir Khan Khalil located at Makli Hill in Thatta, Pakistan. The work attempts to investigate the prevailing controversies concerning the identification of the issue on Chaikhandi tomb. A.H. Dani has declared the tomb as unidentified since no epigraphical record has been reported. The date of its construction can be verified through stylistical approach. The different architectural components such as, the squat shaped dome, amalaka feature, the corbelled ceiling wrought through the receding circle, the stalagmite motif at the apex of the ceiling and the four armed brackets are visibly denoting its continuation from the Hindu temples.
