- Title
Alpenreich | Alpine Riches: Writing Back Mountain Stories.
- Authors
MÜLLER, EVA-MARIA
- Abstract
The author explores how several Austrian and Canadian writers offer a postcolonial critique of alpine riches in the shadow of empire. She examines the use of mountains in popular narratives to inspire respect for the powers of nature as exemplified in most 19th-century British writing pertaining to the Alps. She also discusses how a postcolonial critique of mountain mass tourism in "The Canterbury Trail" and "In den Alpen" highlights the stories of mountains.
