The article discusses the potential role of social media as a method to gain insight into the mental state and social functioning of individuals. Topics discussed include the appeal of online social networks due to their constant accessibility and minimal effort required to participate, how information on online social networks can be helpful when gathering information on the client's family organisation and the role of online social networks in adolescents' social lives and self-presentation.
