- Title
Do Gas Stations Raise Prices on the Weekend or Holidays?
- Authors
Hall, Joshua; Lawson, Robert; Raymer, Lauren
- Abstract
The authors examine the suspicion that the price of gasoline rises before a weekend or major holiday. They tried to get daily price and sales data for a sample of gas stations in a big Midwestern city. They said that their attempt to collect and record gas prices was met with suspicion and hostility. They had gathered daily sales data from a rural gas station in West Virginia from 1992-1999. They found out that gas stations do not systematically increase prices on weekends and holiday.
