- Abstract
An essay is presented on the history of ballooning and aerial photography in the U.S which was pioneered by Orville Rognon and A. Leo Stevens at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition held on September 16, 1909 in Seattle, Washington. The reaction of the public on aerial view is examined as well as its commercial potential. Rognon and Stevens reportedly rode an air balloon and took a photo of Seattle. Also explored are the popularity of bird's eye-views and attractions at the fair.
