HEWITT RETHINK ON DETENTION POWERS.
- Abstract
The article reports on the reconsideration of health secretary Patricia Hewitt regarding the proposal to give nurses the power to detain mental health patients in Great Britain. It is stated that Hewitt needs to strike a deal to get the Mental Health Bill through parliament. However, the House of Lords insisted that all decisions on the legal detention of patients should be approved by a doctor.
