The article discusses the development of educational institutions and main mosques in the southern and coastal regions of Syria during the Mamluk period. It explores on the facts that contribute to the educational progress such as the presence of the Crusaders and the threat of conquest during the Zangid and Ayyubi periods. It adds that Gaza was not directly affected by the Mongolian invasion during the era of the Mamluks.
