- Abstract
This article proposes a reflection on the receptions and appropriations of the Brasil: Nunca Mais report based on the suggestions presented by its readers to the National Constituent Assembly. The objective is to explain the importance of the report in formulating and transmitting a perspective on the past that confronted the policy of forgetfulness imposed by the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship. The Diga Gente project, available on the website of the Federal Senate, that originated the computer support system for the Constituent Assembly, is the main source for this research. It is argued that readers of Brasil: Nunca Mais, when mobilizing the report, convey certain representations about the dictatorial past articulated to certain expectations of the future. These people also present specific motivations for the transmission of the experience of State terrorism in a context of institutional and political transformation. It is therefore possible to partially understand the diffusion, circulation, reception, and uses of Brasil: Nunca Mais and its importance in shaping a memory of the dictatorship during the political transition.
