- Title
CLIMATE HISTORY OF THE BAHAMAS.
- Authors
Shaklee, Ronald V.
- Abstract
The article traces the climate history in the Bahamas. It can be observed that the weather patterns in the Bahamas were in uncertainty in the latter decades of the 18th century and early years of the 19th century. This uncertainty made predictability a necessity for planters in the Bahamas. During the late 1700s and early 1800s, historical newspapers and other weather records revealed that the weather in the Bahamas are slightly cooler and wetter compared to the weather in 2003. The author discovered that planters can survive the occasional bad weather but the consistent rainfall amount fluctuation can halt any successful cultivation strategies.
