- Abstract
This article discusses the investigations into judicial behavior among judges and other court officials in the municipality of Meda, Portugal, during the mid-19th century. The author comments on the emphasis placed on judicial accountability and responsibility, and describes the influence of liberal policies on these investigations. She also considers their impact on the administration of justice in Portugal. The establishment of disciplinary councils for Portuguese judges and other officials is also explored.
