- Title
Reinventing palliative care: hospice in hospital.
- Authors
Launer, John
- Abstract
The author reflects on providing palliative care to hospital patients. He relates the large gap both in Great Britain and elsewhere between the kind of care people hope for at the end of life and what they receive. He mentions a movement in the U.S. to establish intensive care units (ICUs) that are dedicated to care at the end of life. He stresses the need for more investment in hospital palliative care teams that should be accessible 24 hours a day.
