- Abstract
The article analyzes whether prison regulations that protect inmates from contracting diseases have been complied with following the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics discussed include history of airborne illnesses in prisons, inmates' constitutional rights, and what constitutes cruel and unusual punishment under the Eighth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. It suggests the need for the U.S. Supreme Court to change the standard for cruel and unusual punishment in the prison system.
