- Abstract
The article discusses the role of law in solving the difficulty resulting from the unknown but conceivable maternal-fetal medication risk in the U.S. It examines the existing state of ignorance concerning the effectiveness and safety of drugs used during pregnancy. It cites the need of the Congress to require pharmaceutical firms to assess maternal-fetal medication risk and empower the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to compel companies to study their approved drugs for pregnant women.
