The article discusses a proposed framework for addressing individuals' legal rights to social media contact lists, focusing on U.S. intellectual property and trade secrets laws, as well as information about the legal aspects of various social networking services such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. American copyright and patent laws are mentioned, along with fiduciary duties and a patent law-related shop-right rule in America. Social media profiles and several legal cases are also examined.
