The article focuses on western trails history of Johnson's Ranch and his exploratory work and built a type of rude habitation in the vicinity of his discovery. It mentions Johnson' s Ranch was to play a role in the most famous tragedy ever to befall wagoneers bound for California and strips for future construction of snowshoes. It also mentions intention was to either prove or disprove the contentions of past historians with regard to the crossing and Camp Far West.
