- Title
La sociologie de la littérature selon Jean-Charles Falardeau.
- Authors
LANGLOIS, SIMON
- Abstract
Jean-Charles Falardeau was the first in Quebec to lay the foundation for a sociological analysis of literature, focusing on the analysis of the hero, the study of the world view, and the examination of ideologies implicit in novels, not to be identified as mere reflections of society. Falardeau considers them as social objects and as textual objects. His analysis of the novel Maria Chapdelaine, a youth text published in Québec’s L’Événement Journal, illustrates in advance his approach, but also how the reception of a novel can change over time.
