- Title
Nature's pharmacy at risk: Unveiling the hidden molecular secrets of phytotherapy in the age of globalization.
- Authors
Traidl‐Hoffmann, Claudia
- Abstract
Phytotherapy, the use of medicinal plants as a cure, has a long history dating back to ancient times. Despite the global reliance on botanical drugs, scientific publications on phytotherapy have been declining. However, natural entities continue to inspire the creation of therapeutic agents. This article highlights a recent study on the mode of action of a plant extract that can modulate atopic dermatitis, emphasizing the need for further research and clinical studies. The preservation of plant biodiversity is crucial for identifying novel compounds for drug development and protecting traditional knowledge.
