- Abstract
The article focuses on the challenges faced by the attorneys while representing adolescent parents in child welfare proceedings in the U.S. It highlights several factors influencing teen parenting including poverty, below average education and family structure. It analyzes lawyer's role as a lawyer and as a 'guardians ad litem' and reflects that lawyers representing teen parents as clients should advocate for client-directed representation and protect the child's legal rights.
