- Abstract
The article focuses on the effect of conventional cytotoxic anticancer drugs on children with cancer. It outlines the importance of using an integrated multimodality approach, which includes surgery or irradiation to address the primary tumor, and combination therapy to eradicate micrometastases. Children who received standard-dose intensive chemotherapy have more than 80 percent chance of having at least one drug-related toxicity that is severe on the course of their treatment.
