The article introduces a series of articles on scientific and clinical perspectives of musical rhythms in brain. An article by S.J. Kung, J.L. Chen, V.B. Penhune, and R.J. Zatorre focuses on their recent studies with the help of functional magnetic resonance imaging of brain networks. The article by J.A. Grahn focuses on the importance of the basal ganglia in the perception of beat in musical rhythms. E.W. Large and J.S. Snyder's article focuses on the resonance theory of rhythm perception.
