This article examines the evidence of the maximum age of the Serpent Mound impact crater in Ohio. It discusses the formation of the crater in sedimentary rock. It suggests that the impact event occurred during the Early Mississippian - Late Permian interval. In addition, the article investigates the shock metamorphism of rock present during the impact.
