- Abstract
The article describes a multidisciplinary, collaborative research project focused on biodiversity in China and discusses its relevance to people and the environment as a natural resource. Based on the biotic surveys, 63 small mammal species, 145 bird species, and 36 amphibian species were documented. It cites the basic implications and importance of the biotic surveys for China from a human health perspective, as well as for ecotourism and sustainable development of protected area systems.
