- Title
An ammonia-based CO2-capture process moves several steps closer to commercialization.
- Abstract
The article reports on the started operation of the first pilot project, a project that used chilled ammonia to capture carbon dioxide from the fluegas (FG) of a coal-fired power plant, at the We Energies' Pleasant Prairie power plant in Wisconsin. The chilled ammonia process project, which was designed by Alstom, is part of a cost-sharing partnership of 35 utilities organized by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). It notes that EPRI will conduct an engineering performance and cost analysis, which will last at least one year. Further, it mentions that Alstom plans to test the process in other pilot projects in Sweden and Norway.
