- Abstract
The article presents a case study of the papers of Canadian Films Limited, housed in the Municipal Archives of Montreal and the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec. According to the author, the company produced mostly industrial, sponsored, and educational films, and its papers illustrate the preinstitutional nature of nontheatrical film production in the early 20th century. Topics discussed include film genres, screen networks, and company founder John D. Tennant.
