- Abstract
This article profiles novelist and short story writer Nathaniel Hawthorne. The first steady work of Hawthorne was his selection in January 1836 as the "American Magazine of Useful and Entertaining Knowledge" editor. The next full-time job of Hawthorne was as editor of "Peter Parley's Universal History, on the Basis of Geography." The habitations of Hawthorne in Brook Farm and his connections with the literary communities laced him in the center of antebellum culture of pedagogy.
