- Abstract
The article focuses on a study that examined the effects of organization markers on the text comprehension of English as a second language (ESL) learners. This study involved 16 Korean ESL learners enrolled in high intermediate- and advanced-level ESL classes at a major U.S. university. It appears that learners who listened to the marker lecture recalled almost twice as much information as learners who listened to the nonmarker lecture. There is a significant difference among learners in terms of their recall of high-idea units.
